VANGUARD Pro Staffers are winning local, state, national and world archery championship titles, raising funds to take servicemen and women injured in the line of duty and terminally-ill children on adventurous hunts, managing popular ranges and shops, teaching archery in after-school programs, leading regional archery associations and clubs, and more. Though they're diverse in experience, age, background and industry involvement, VANGUARD's Pro Staff members share common loves: Archery, the outdoors and VANGUARD sporting optics. Scattered across North America and in Australia, too, this mix of energetic teens to seasoned pros with decades of experience all agree: VANGUARD binoculars and spotting scopes run laps around the big-name optics they used before discovering us.

Favorite VANGUARD product: Spirit ED 1042 binoculars

Austin McIntosh was practically born with a bow in his hand. The Semi-Pro shooter was introduced to archery by his father who, after seeing his success in the backyard, brought him to the local 4-H club, where club leaders suggested he begin competing by age 10.

Austin's accomplishments include:
  • 2009 - two 2nd place and one 3rd place finish in ASA and IBO competitions
  • 2005 ASA and IBO world 2nd place (YMR 15-17)
  • 2005 IBO National Triple Crown Champion (YMR 15-17)
  • 2005 ASA Shooter of the Year (Young Adult)
  • 2003 IBO World Champion (YMR 13-14)

"I love how clear and bright Spirit ED is considering how light and compact the binocular is," he said."They are great, because I can see everything I need to and don't get worn out carrying them all day."

Austin also pro staffs for Mathews Inc. Bows, T.R.U. Ball Releases, Easton Arrows and Bohning Archery.

Austin is the ultimate athlete. He'll play just about any sport you suggest. He's also an avid hunter, whose main pursuit is whitetail deer.
